Hello.

The Physics Lab (aka John Barton) explores the intersection of the physical and digital realms across strategy, user experience, visual design, and technology. Over a multidisciplinary career spanning 20 years, I have had the good fortune to work on designing and developing interfaces ranging from traditional desktop and mobile to large-scale multitouch, RFID, gestural, neural, data-driven, and bespoke sensor inputs, pushing the boundaries of the possible. Clients have included ABC/Disney, British Airways, GE, Google, JetBlue, Levi’s, Microsoft, Nike, Nokia, MTV, Target, SanDisk, Sun Microsystems, Target, and many others.

Additionally, I possess a strong clinical and emergency services background. I am an emergency department RN, and I also serve as Captain, EMT, and technical rescue specialist for my local fire department. My current career goal is to combine this healthcare knowledge with my professional background to improve health outcomes through the application of user-centered design and technology.
